What is even happening?

I did think this was a clever Spike reference:

Okay. A long time ago (we used to be friends), they introduced this new character on a long-running series. And everybody -- for certain values of 'everybody' -- totally loved him. This was the bitchin'-est character ever. He had style, flair, clever dialogue, and a talent for stealing scenes. So...they let him steal the scenes. Every scene he wanted, he got, and it turned out that he wanted a lot of scenes. Eventually, the whole structure of the show changed, reforming itself around him. And it wasn't a good thing.

Don't make Logan into the new Elmo, people. One evil red death muppet from hell was more than enough for me.

Oh, and I totally think the next Bitches thread ought to be called "Evil red death muppet from hell".

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Cindy, thanks to that link, I have now mentally replaced Spike with Elmo, which gives a whole 'nother meaning to Seeing Red.

The evil is this way?

Here's a(n intentionally) funny one on the Potter Bruhaha. It spoils the newest book, though. [link]

"All shall love me and dispair." Hee Sounds like a Tim Minear tag line.

Whee!

That entry isn't too wanky in and of itself, but it just thrilled me to pieces that it was all there in one thread, and SMG still manages to be a villain.

(You recognize it from FotR, right?)

Last week, Scott and I were watching FotR. I love Cate Blanchett's narration at the beginning, as does he (although I think his love for it is has less to do with its restful qualities). He made a crack about wondering if Cate's husband had her recite those lines in bed. I countered that she probably went for the "In place of a Dark Lord you shall have a Queen! Not dark, but beautiful..." yada yada "All shall love me and despair."

Well, it was funny when we imagined it, anyhow.

It is the power that she wields, uh-huh. Hell, the author not only pissed on her for "Buffy" but for "All My Children." I mean, she was still a teenager on AMC and by a number of accounts it was her on-screen mother who was doing the diva.

You recognize it from FotR, right?

Nope. Most of my FotR knowledge has oozed out of my brain by now.

Yeah, and the other little short run thing she was on. With AMC, my understanding was that La Lucci was unbearable, because SMG won an emmy when she was still so new to the scene.

I suspect Kristen Bell and SMG are guilty of the same crimes: They're little, pretty, often blond, and relatively successful in a field where it's often difficult to pay the rent, never mind succeed. Oh, and they aren't shipping for the right ships.

After Gandalf dies, and the fellowship goes to Loth Lorien, Frodo tries to give the ring to Galadriel, because he has looked in her pool/mirror and seen how scary the future looks. She resists but, in the film, goes all CGI spooky and speaks the above lines. The "All shall love me and despair" is the end of it, before she realizes she passes the test.

They ship? Oye. That way lies some of the craziest apeshit fans madness.

The "All shall love me and despair" is the end of it, before she realizes she passes the test.

Thanks. That was the part of the movie I never did get, and assumed that I had to read the book, I was unlikely ever to do.

Well, they don't actually ship (that I know of). But they dare to give their opinions in interviews, as to what might happen next, or which pairing they'd enjoy.

I'd forgotten you weren't big on LotR. It seems to me you should be. Correct that, please. And while you're at it, correct your WRONG assessment of the BBS, who is clearly DEAD.

I too wonder if Brainiac will fall in love with Lana. I still love Lex, but I could barely watch even his scenes last season. Now? I must see how all this will go down with JM in the mix.

I had to quickly run away from the VM fandom. It got so crazy so quickly. Seemingly powered by the worst part of BTVS fandom.
