He complained about Maggie Grace not getting sufficiently moving mourning scenes after his character's passing. He complained about finding out his character was getting the axe while on vacation. He probably complained in some interview about not getting as many viewers as Desperate Housewives...

So really, the reason his character was killed off is that HE (Ian) has such an unpleasant personality.
Well, that and the fact he was one of the show's three weakest actors (which isn't as bad a slam as it sounds, as it's a show with almost a dozen regular talented veteran performers), and of those three the one whose death would best galvanize the plot in the direction the producers wanted.
Who are you counting as the three? IS, obviously, and I would guess Maggie Grace, but who is the third?
The kid who plays Walt (though he just barely edges out Evangeline Lily).
Really, even of that group Maggie is the only one I'd call bad, the others (Ian included) just aren't good when seen in light of a cast with Terry O'Quinn, Harold Perrineau, and Yunjin Kim.
Ah.
I think Evangeline is much worse than the kid who plays Walt, or the writers are just clearer for him.
According to a pretty well-placed source, Somerhalder was fired because the crew couldn't stand him.
gee. go figure.
ABC is being sued over Lost. A guy is claiming that in the 70s for Sid and Marty Kroft he came up with the idea for a show about survivors of a plane crash who encounter mysteries and strange creatures for ABC and it was called Lost.
He wants written and created by credits as well as royalties, etc.
I'm not sure why he's waiting until now to sue, I would think he would have done that as soon as ABC started advertising for Lost.
