When you look back at this, in the three seconds it'll take you to turn to dust, I think you'll find the mistake was touching my stuff.

Or unstable. Jury's out.

Except, really? Not mutually exclusive.

Yay for party-going writers and board-posting hobbits.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

NUMBER'S UP: Who says you can't learn from TV?

For example, don't rely on TV shows for your lottery numbers.

The Lansing State Journal reports that 215 residents of Michigan used a sequence of six numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42) that were heavily featured in the March 2 episode of "Lost."

That episode of the ABC show explored the back story of a plane-crash survivor named Hugo Reyes (a.k.a. Hurley), who'd used that sequence of numbers to win more than $100 million via the lottery.

As the episode unfolded, Hurley learned the history of the numbers, which he'd gotten from a mentally ill man. Hurley was obsessed with the numbers, because ever since he won the lottery, bad things kept happening, to the point that he thought the numbers were cursed.

So it's probably a good thing that 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 were not the winning numbers in the 11-state Mega Millions lottery, which includes Michigan.

Snerk

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I was wondering how many people nationwide played the numbers.

Our wings are not tired.

I would have if I actually played the lottery. I only think to get a ticket every few years when it is too big to resist.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So, in EW, they came up with one number significance I hadn't read before:

if you add up all the digits (treating each digit of the 2 digit numbers individually) and Hurley's lottery winnings, you get 48. The number of survivors.

4+8+1+5+1+6+2+3+4+2+1+5+6 (156 million was Hurley's winnings).

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

But as people pointed out, $156 million was not his winnings but his net worth after investing his winnings. I'm not sure we found out what the actual lottery pot was.

Still, amusing.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Well, it's what he was worth at the time of the crash. I'd say that counts, if there's anything to all the number stuff.
