See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Yeah, didn't make any sense to me, either.

It gave her an excuse to kick him in the shins, so I am fine with it. My narrative needs are simple and few.

Re Sayid's "Awww, isn't that cute?" look while Sawyer was trying to be all snarly and threatening at him, Hec has posited that the entire writing team has noticed how superlative Naveen Andrews is at giving a snark-loaded silent stare, and they're now specifically writing lines that give him room for that stare. Which I'm also fine with.

If I only had a brain...

"You're having fun, aren't you?" "Yes."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Nah. He's still a dick.

I think the writers think they've cleaned him up enough, though.

there is almost certainly a mommy boar nearby, and when she comes by she is going to be PISSED.

Wasn't that what Sawyer was trying to accomplish?

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Shortest Fanfic Evar.

-- Boston seems different. Maybe it's the Big Dig being done.
-- You went missing when, Dr. Shepherd?
-- 2004. Winter, in Australia. I guess it was August.
-- Ohhhh dude. You missed it.
-- Missed what?
-- The Red Sox won the World Series that fall. And again, two years later.
-- What?? [psychotic break]

If I only had a brain...

Since Sawyer apparently thinks the pissing-on-his-shirt boar is male, I don't think so.

I'm probably not the right judge, because all I could think was, "Hmmm, I bet baby boar meat is a lot more tender than grown-up boar meat." Although, practically speaking, there'd be more meat if little piggy growed up.

I'd like to argue that he's not woobified. I'd like to, but I'm not sure I can. Still, he killed a guy in cold blood, and it was the wrong guy. And let's face it, he was stupid about it. Just some minor fact-checking might have been in order. I'm not saying it would've been easy, but if you're going to kill someone dead, take some steps to make sure it's the right someone. His source wasn't so much relible, right? He'd already screwed him once.

And then he withheld the but-your-daddy-was-so-prouuuuud from Jack. Mean.

So, there you have it. Still a hot jackhole with no excuse. Being persecuted by a wild boar. Island justice, baby.

So what was he saying when he was wiggling the pig? Even if he got his genders mixed up, I thought he was using it as a lure.

I thought he was using it as a lure.

That's what he was doing.

Except -- they stared off. I thought it was animal totem absolution.

Or whatever. It feels to me like the writers are assiduously asserting that it's okay to like him, he's just damaged a bit.

Me? I don't care. Hot either way. Preferred Spike in S2, and all that. But they're erasing the big jagged edges of his persona.

If I only had a brain...

But daddy boars don't care about baby boars.

This man knows NOTHING about porcine social systems. IJS.
