Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

In an interview, Dom sort of handwaved this and said that the show is on a Disney network during the old "family hour," so he thinks that the producers decided to really tone it down.

Okay, but -- dude sucked into the jet engine in the first 10 minutes? "Family hour"?

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I think it's because we've seen withdrawal a zillion times and they just didn't want to have to try to make endless, sweating, puking, scratching scenes dramatically interesting. I heard people audibly sighing when the withdrawal montage started in Ray.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think it's because we've seen withdrawal a zillion times and they just didn't want to have to try to make endless, sweating, puking, scratching scenes dramatically interesting.

What I don't like is ignoring it on the island, but putting in the flashback when it's convenient for dramatic reasons. Have withdrawal or don't, but make it consistent.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm wanking Charlie's shooting skills to hysterical accuracy, related to hysterical strength.

The withdrawal wasn't so harsh because he had been weaning himself since the crash, and perhaps before the crash.

got lots of wanks, get yer wanks here

Hmm. Cindy used to be queen of the wank. I think we're going to need a wank off.

So to speak.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

From IMDB:

According to the upcoming DisneyWar book by James Stewart, both Disney CEO Michael Eisner and President Robert Iger were dubious that the series Lost, which had been championed by ABC Entertainment Television Group Chairman Lloyd Braun, would draw an audience. Iger originally called the series "a waste of time," adding, "It might work as a miniseries, but not as a series." According to the book, Braun defied Iger's "clear invitation" to kill it. Later Eisner asked Braun, "What have you picked up?" When he described Lost, Eisner reportedly frowned, then said, "That's never going to work." Even after its successful premiere (and after Braun had been fired), Lost continued to be damned by Eisner, who told Stewart, "Lost is terrible. ... The pilot was two hours; it was broken into two one-hour episodes. Then the show goes off a cliff. There's no more plane crash! Who cares about these people on a desert island?" Lost is currently ABC's second most popular TV series, behind Desperate Housewives. On Wednesday, it dominated the 8:00 p.m. hour, scoring an 11.6 rating and an 18 share, well above second-place CBS's 7.3/11 (60 Minutes Wednesday).

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

What an asshole.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Who cares about these people on a desert island?"

Yeah, CBS totally bombed with that whole...nevermind.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

we know that Kate knows how to handle weapons (probably better than anyone but Sayid!)

Unless the Republican Guard was in the practice of putting Expert Master level marksmen in communications posts, I think she has to be better than Sayid. That two-handed shootout with armed and alerted criminals in the bank vault is just this side of the stuff of Matrix movies.

What an asshole.

Remember the thing last year where I told you guys that 43% of Disney stockholders went against him in a no confidence vote? This is after the Disney heir resigned from the board of directors in protest over his management.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I'll go one up on "Ethan would never have told them anything" and arrive at "Ethan would have escaped, taking Claire with him and probably killing people". I, too, dislike the way it was written, though.
