Okay, those flashbacks were easily the worst-integrated this show's done yet. I loves me some Dom, but oy.
It was a long, LOOOONG way to go to get to "I just wanted to prove I could take care of you". Which was basically a way of taking Ethan out of the picture. I think Claire having her memories come back (or some of them) and unloading on Ethan would have been just as effective. I'm not sure who's backstory I would have done in place of Charlie's though (Scott's would have been too cruel, but man oh man, I would have respected JJ and company for it).

I was not thrilled with tonight's episode. Particularly after waiting so long. Blah. They could have managed with no flashback at all. That would be a clever twist.
Alias was fun though.
I don't think Charlie was wrong. (in the context of the show) Ethan would never give them anything useful. First because he was insane, but also because he doesn't seem the type to have been impressed by Sayid's torture attempts. Charlie had no motivation to be all rational. Revenge and protecting Clare needed to take priority.
