Lost: OMGWTF POLAR BEAR
[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
I thought that Locke was trying to get rid of Boone so he could commune with the island/get the magic to work. Plus I think either Locke rubbed some of his magic off on Walt, or Walt's got some of his own going on because the dice thing was weird.
I noticed this too. In the last episode the expression on Locke's face was such that it gave me the impression that he was almost annoyed that Sayid had come back to the caves to tell everyone about others being on the island.
My prediction with regard to Locke is that, while right now he's pulling for the good guys, something happened to him or the island did something to him so that he might not be acting of his own will and he will subtly start acting in favor of the "others" or whatever's out there. And Walt will be his sidekick. The writers are putting so much tension between Locke-Walt-Michael for it to not play out later.
Not enough, Beverly. Sawyer was knocking on Sayid for the torture. Sayid said he regretted it and that's why he left with no intention of coming back. Sawyer gave him an "Oh, yeah?" so Sayid could exposit on the crazy french lady who killed off all her teammates and Sayid had to come and save Sawyer for theirloveissopure. There was some more snark after that, but I missed it, too.
Oh, the Red Shirt line was cute. I think Boone is a super Star Trek geek and is too embarrassed to admit it (he couldn't remember "the guy with the pointy ears"--and I don't know if he meant Data or Spock, since I don't remember which series he was referring to), but he was clearly into it enough to notice the Red Shirt thing.
Also, I laughed out loud when Boone revealed that he ran a Martha Stewart for Bridezillas outlet.
Ah, thanks, Jen. I shoulda known I could count on you.
I'm reeeelly really glad we didn't lose Charlie. I think probably he doesn't remember. There's always a loss of memory associated with head trauma. The bits in the movies where the PI describes the guy what whopped him in the head is bushwah, because if your melon is tapped hard enough for you to lose consciousness, you will also have a bit of memory loss of the events immediately prior to your being tapped. The same could be true of, erm, hanging trauma, I suppose. I'm thinking of it that way until I get it confirmed
otherwise.
Sawyer: hahaha, karma's a bitch...
Sayid: I feel bad 'bout the whole torture thing.
Sawyer: I don't care.
Sayid: I met a crazy lady who said crazy things (exposition exposition exposition) and I looked at her the way you're looking at me RIGHT NOW!
Sawyer: Did she have a straight razor? (cha-ching!)
Sayid: uh, no.
Sawyer: whatev. tide's coming up, and I kept your fires burning.
That was the gist, I'll let someone else bring more text to the party.
A little wiped after that hour of TV. And geometry. Going to bed now. Beverly, forgive my flippancy in recapping.
Edited for semi-coherency. And punctuation.
No, Nora, it was great, thanks! I can totally put those lines to the scene I saw!
Stoopid phone call.
Beverly, sorry, I can't go back and rewatch because I'm at my friends' house and they're watching
The West Wing,
and I don't recall the scene well enough to recap it.
eta:
shoulda known that would be an x-post.
I think the supposition that they were split up is intriguing, and likely. This is why Charlie knew nothing of Claire.
Oh yeah, of course! That makes sense, and means he doesn't have amnesia after all.
'S okay, Kate, thanks anyway.
Wait, wait, what? Split up? Who said they were split up?
I think Boone is a super Star Trek geek and is too embarrassed to admit it (he couldn't remember "the guy with the pointy ears"--and I don't know if he meant Data or Spock, since I don't remember which series he was referring to), but he was clearly into it enough to notice the Red Shirt thing.
Spock. The Red Shirt thing is ST:TOS. And I so shouldn't be the person telling you this, because I've never seen an episode of ST:TOS.
I like Saywer's character, but his nicknaming is finally becoming tiresome even to
me.
Also, his use of the word "Islams." Really, he's never come across to me as
that
ignorant. Bigoted, yes, but intelligent enough to know what the hell a Muslim is.
Wait, wait, what? Split up? Who said they were split up?
They discovered two trails, and Kate thought one was actually a fake trail planted by Ethan, but now it looks like Ethan went one way with Charlie and "they" took Claire the other way.
Locke and Boone are following "them."
Oh my God. I always thought the threat "I will kill one of them" sounded a little weak, but now it makes sense: he only
had
one of them!
Well, there were two tracks in the jungle, one that Jack & Kate were following, and one that Locke and Boone were following. At first I figured one of them had to be wrong, but now it seems likely that Ethan was working in association with "the others", and that he took either Charlie or Claire and "the other" took, um, the other. Which would explain why Charlie can't remember anything about where she was taken.
Also, does anyone think that the theory I mentioned earlier (that "the others" were somehow responsible for the plane crash, because they wanted/needed to get Claire and the baby) holds any water?
