You know, with the exception of one deadly and unpredictable midget, this girl is the smallest cargo I've ever had to transport. Yet by far the most troublesome. Does that seem right to you?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Heh -- we should call this series Gilligan's Island Extreme....

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

1) Why is Noor now called Nadia, and how should Sayid have known that?

The first conversation they had in the prison set up the fact that they had known each other as children. He didn't recognize her, but she recognized him, and said something like "no one calls me Noor. You should know that, Sayid."

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I'm pretty sure he did recognize her. He did a double take when the guards were first bringing her in. Perhaps he was hoping she wouldn't recognize him.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Heh -- we should call this series Gilligan's Island Extreme....

Make that Xtreme.

"I wanted to call the show 'Going to other Planets' but research says that shows with an 'X' in the name get higher ratings."

I thought he was just checking her out, but you could be right.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

That happened on an episode of Gilligan's Island, only they tapped in and got Gladys Kravitz

Oooh. This makes the Tories song "Gladys Kravitz" make more sense.

Sort of. Gladys Kravitz was the nosey neighbor on Bewitched.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Damn stupid business trip, making me miss WnP and all the post-ep analysis.

I ended up downloading it onto my laptop in my hotel room, but didn't get the chance to watch it until yesterday. So, time for a mega-meara!

Where's Vonnie? I want to hear what I thought about the episode.
Aww! t snuggles P-C

Actually, I think I liked it better than you did this time around. The flashbacks were tad on the predictable side, but I loved the island bits, both the Foulenn/Sayid Shack o' Torture and the First Island Open. The hints we got of the mystery were intriguing--I can't wait to hear more of the backstory on the alleged scientific team, and what "it" in the transmission was. She made it sound like some kind of infectious agent, and the whole set-up reminded me of that classic horror of paranoia and claustrophobia, "The Thing". Or, you know, she could have been just barking mad.

Have I mentioned I love the music on this episode? I loved the dramatic dissonant strings, and particularly that creepy solemn death knells in the shack when Danielle started her crazy rambling.

Then that last scene where the whispers begin... were the voices really there? Or could Sayid have been affected by whatever contagion Danielle was talking about? Hmmm.

Alex was the Science experiment! Summer Glau will play her!

Heh. I like the way you think. I crave to see more of the FF gang, particularly Summer Glau. She was in a CSI episode a couple of weeks ago in a small role of the roommate of one of the victims, and she was marvellous, giving a bit character much more depth than one could have expected.

And whoever said that William Mapother (Ethan) was Poor Man's Nathan Fillion was spot-on

S'was me. Something about the Aw Shucks demeanor, the goofy haircut, and the long nose. The voice is wee bit similar, too, I found.

BTW, I love that we are seeing more speaking-parts people. Don't know much about Ethan yet, but I really liked the Rash Guy. (Does he have a name?)

And, okay, in the spirit of full disclosure, I have to say... Sawyer was pretty freaking cute in this episode.

Tell me about it. Damn that Josh Holloway for injecting just the right amount of vulnerability into his jackholitude.

Apparently Jack has medical training that differs from that of my doctors, who didn't tell me that hives were the result of heat and stress and I should stop being a hypochondriac and go away, but instead said that I should probably stop taking Augmentin so my allergic reaction didn't get worse and KILL ME.

Oh yeah. I was all, "HIVES IS ONE OF THE SIGNS OF IMPENDING ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK, YA DUMBASS!" I should prolly stop tearing out my hair whenever I come across gross medical inaccuracy on TV, or I will be bald before I hit 35.

Back to the conversation about the ethnic background of some of the actors. I'm happy to give some slack on this.

I'd be agreeing with this usually, but then it'd make me a total hypocrite because if Sun and Jin were played by non-Korean actors and were messing up the language, I'd be pissed.

I think Andrews is trying an Arabic accent, but I have no idea how good it is. Is he making any native speakers cringe?

I'm liking the Charlie-Hurley friendship -- the actors have a relaxed buddy vibe between them.

They are adorable together. My favorite throwaway bit was when Charlie grabbed Hurley from behind to show him the move (Dirty!) and Hurley yipped, "Dude! Get away from me." Hee.

He's always been the neediest character on the island, the one who's just begging to hook up with someone, anyone, in any way, be it romantic (first Shannon, then after the fishing debacle, he seemed to think about Kate, leading to the snarky comments about her and Jack having private jokes already, and now Claire, who seems to be open to the possibility), or buddy-buddy, with Hurley and Jack, or mentor-ish, with Locke. As for his flashbacks, I got the impression that he reached for his brother's heroin just so he could share something with the brother he loved, since the music (continued...)

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

( continues...) no longer connected them.

Nodding like a big noddy thing.

I should mention, that if you have a battery and jumper cables, you can make an electrical torture-unit out of a foldy beach chair and enough rope to tie up your captive.

Reading Buffistas is *so* educational.

I particularly love that there was a decent discussion afterward as to the plausibility of the scenario and exactly how many volts/amps it would take to actually electrocute someone.

Also, this episode made me like Boone a bit. (My default position on Boone is that he needs his ass kicked, and often.) "We need the sunscreen, princess," was what did it.

I am very grieved that there is no episode next week. Rassenfrassen' hiatus...

ETA: Oooh, we have the auto-division of long-ass posts (or whatever the heck we call it) function! Neat.

Conservative, n. A statesman who is enamored of existing evils, as distinguished from the Liberal, who wishes to replace them with others. -Bierce

So maybe the "science expedition" was laying transoceanic cable? I suppose that would be thicker though. Or they were transporting polar bears from the arctic to the antarctic, and ran aground half way.

The rifles are obvious though. The expedition would need to drive away the penguin army lying in wait to prevent the arrival of the transplanted bears.
