Joyce: Dawn, you be good. Xander: We will. Just gonna play with some matches, run with scissors, take candy from some guy, I don't know his name.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It would be deliciously ironic if Sawyer was a Gulf-war-era veteran... is he too old?

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Nah. It was only about twelve years ago. I have a horrible time judging ages, but if he's 30 or older, he'd be old enough to have been in the Gulf War.

See, I get an ex-con vibe from that.

That was my first thought, too. Or maybe he did time in juvie.

But I do know plenty of reservists who'd hoard when they got reactivated. They had to because they weren't even close to adequately supplied. And a lot of those guys were techs, quartermasters, and logistics -- not so much with the killing, even if they did go through boot camp.

Edit: And I see this is x-posty goodness.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Maybe he's a failed cop the same way Jack's a failed doctor. They should console each other.

Nooooo. Sawyer belongs with Sayid (who of course is MINE!)

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Oh crap. Sawyer is Young Sgt. Bilko!

Or an old Milo Minderbinder.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I had actually thought about sitting down to write out the scripts that were broadcast so I can look for clues. I don't have a website, so I wouldn't know where to post, though.

You might want to get in touch with the Buffista Named Shrift.

She might be interested in hosting the transcripts of episodes.

She runs www.shriftweb.org

Well, yeah. He's the "scrounger" character in old war movies, the guy who makes the deals and the swaps and can get you anything you need. Like a quartermaster without the rules.

He's James Garner in The Great Escape!
