Still sitting in the "liked the episode" corner. I didn't think it weak, cliched or heavy-handed. If it was cliched, I thought it was good use of the requisite cliches, in such a way as to save it from after-school-special land.
I don't think it counts as heavy handed because they weren't trying to slap us over the head with a lesson, a la after school specials, or the Willow magic=drugs arc from Season 6.
None of it was for out benefit, it was just a thing that Charlie had to go through.
But that may just be me.
