Lost: OMGWTF POLAR BEAR
[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
SailAweigh, that was an awesome analysis, and I will give it some serious thought. Thanks!
Ooh yeah, I wanna see more of both Charlie/Claire and Sun/Michael.
he doesn't even vibe with any of the supremely hot dudes on the island.
True, but I don't think that necessarily invalidates my thesis. Maybe he's only recently realized that he's gay, and so he doesn't have any experience with men, and he's a little afraid to open himself up to any possibility of sexual/romantic interaction so soon. Maybe he's worried that people on the island will ostracize him when they find out; he obviously didn't have a very supportive or loving relationship with his parents, so maybe they freaked out on him when he came out to them. Not to mention he's busy setting up camp and figuring out the best way for them to survive. I'm just saying, he seems a little uncomfortable around Kate, and it's intriguing to me, because he HAS to be picking up on the signals she's sending him.
Hee!
By the looks of the previews, it seemed to me they were planning to torture Sawyer to make him give up his loot. Heh. Loot.
As for Charlie's drug use, it seems to me he's just the kind of follower to take up drug use just like he did. I don't think choosing to use drugs you know are screwing up someone you love looks normal to anyone outside the event. He didn't want to lose his brother. He was afraid all along that Liam was right and he wasn't important. So, he did it, in, I think, a "nanny-nanny-boo-boo" way. This is what you want? I'll give you what you want.
I may be projecting.
Maybe Sawyer is the pre-existing Island dweller, thus his scavenging ways.
Have we ever seen him in flashbacks?
How long after Claire gives birth before she and Charlie get physical?
They're only doing a day or so per episode so far, so it'll probably be season 3 by the time they get to that point.
I missed some of the early on the plane flashbacks, so I don't know. I don't remember anyone other than Sun, Jin, Kate, dead guy, Charlie and Jack.
I meant to say that was cool, Sail, and forgot. My brain is a sieve.
eta: 6 weeks after a normal vaginal delivery, Daniel.

Charlie seemed to hate himself at the time for doing it though. If it were as you say, I think he would be more resigned and less heartbroken.
Oh, by the way: this week's episode started not with an eye shot but a hand shot (Charlie strumming the guitar)...but within seconds, the camera panned to the eye shot. Two eyes! In the throes of withdrawal!
I think the point of doing that is to show the audience that this series is focused more about the person first and the group second. Getting off the island (action) is secondary to the individual characters, b/c this really is about the characters and their development.
Totally skipped, because I spent all day at a friend's father's funeral and drove two hours each way to attend it, and I'm exhausted.
One question: Could it be possible that whoever hit Sayid was already on the island? In other words, not one of our plane crash people. Sorry if this has been addressed already.
Also, Kate gave Jack a running tackle hug! Hee.
The anvilicious moths at the end were a bit much, but the look in Charlie's eyes totally made up for it. He and the guy who played Liam were great. Definitely shades of Oasis there, though. And Charlie's confession scene was lovely. And porny, too!
Also, why no Claire again? Maybe she hit Sayid! Okay, probably not, but still, that would be a twist.
I would have preferred it if Charlie was the only one who could see the ending Mothra. Jack never saw it in the cave. Charlie was thinking about the whole cocoon thing and he was expected to have hallucinations, but the island gave him what he wanted, a way in, and a struggle out, and the moth as a metaphor. I wonder if his songs are that simplistic?
