I have to give some props to DavidS' position, though. I think that Advisor Locke should have been pushing for resource consolidation before now.
Lost: OMGWTF POLAR BEAR
[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
I wondered where they got the axe.
I assume it's a fire axe of some kind...?
I was kind of hoping someone clever would fashion one out of a piece of fuselage or the like... Eventually something like Gunn's axe, even.
I would definitely figure out a way to build a forge eventually, what with all that nice metal to work with. At least make a piece of the wreckage into an anvil
And the landing gear? Parts for a water wheel. That and some wiring stripped out from the wreckage and some magnetite, I could make a crude generator. Heck there might even be magnets scavengable from the cockpit equipment. Maybe even servos.
Then lights from parts of the fuselage that wasn't burned, and I'd be in Macgyvering heaven.
I wondered where they got the axe.
Me too! I thought I'd missed some sort of explanation.
I assume it's a fire axe of some kind...?
Good point...wait, do they have those In Case of Fire Break Glass dealies on planes?
from sumi's link:
"I'm kind of looking forward to the first time someone comes up to me on the street and says, 'Oh, you speak English so well.' "
..then there will be the "Ever watched Angel, BITCH?" comment. We loves the sumi restraint, we does.
Good point...wait, do they have those In Case of Fire Break Glass dealies on planes?
Not so much. The plate reads: "Touch this, and the Sky Marshalls will rain death on yo' Arab ass, dimwit."
I wondered where they got the axe.
Federal Aviation Regulations
ยง 125.207 Emergency equipment requirements:
(a) No person may operate an airplane having a seating capacity of 20 or more passengers unless it is equipped with the following emergency equipment:
...(2) A crash axe carried so as to be accessible to the crew but inaccessible to passengers during normal operations.
IIRC, it is a hand axe stowed in the cockpit, so the full-size axe should be written off as creative license.
edited to cite a better reference
OMG JJ READ THE FED AVIATION THINGY
You know, from the interchange with Jack and Kate, I got that Jack wants things when he wants them, and isn't so much about the give and take. She offered to tell him what she'd done earlier, said she wanted to tell him and he refused to hear it. Now he wants to know?
This time, He asked why she won't go to the cave and she says she doesn't want to be eaten. He totally changes the subject to something else (being rescued?) and laughs a little (or does something dismissive. I'm going to have to watch this ep again). She shuts him out and he says, "Why are you this way?" Because, of course, it's all her fault she's not communicating with him properly.
I'd shut him out too.
OMG JJ READ THE FED AVIATION THINGY
t spews a lung. The whole lung.
dcp is right, about the creative license thing. About being able to quote FCC reg at he drop of hat?
My brotha!
Because, of course, it's all her fault she's not communicating with him properly.
Oy! The dude was confused. Failed communication is just failed, you know? More talking is need.
"Why aren't you listening when I'm talking to you?"
"Why are you talking when I'm not listening?"
I can't remember which show the bit is from. Might be All in the Family.
Sec. 125.207 (a) (2): "A crash axe carried so as to be accessible to the crew but inaccessible to passengers during normal operations."
Aha. Thought so. I had a further convo about it with Windsparrow in IM after posting here.
