You were very nearly devoured by a giant demon snake. The words 'let that be a lesson' are a tad redundant at this juncture.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Just picked up my copy at the local library, going to start it soonish. In checking how many pages it was (255), I did happen to notice a name mentioned (Is it OK to mention it here, this early?) which makes me somewhat eager. Is it the character I know, or just a tribute to them from the author? Interesting . . . .

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Gandalfe, I was wondering the same thing.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Finally managed to go and pick up the book today. I'm really looking forward to jumping in. Also I made a convert - the clerk at the bookstore wanted to know if there were more copies so he could go grab one. "That sounds great! When the description starts out 'Two warring factions in the Department of Elevator Instructors,' how can you go wrong?"

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I have joined the proud ranks of the Holders of Library Cards and also picked up a copy of The Intuitionist. Productivity galore.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Congratulations -t! Library card holders of the 'verse, unite!

I'm still at the slow part that someone mentioned, and am having some difficulty figuring out the world...real or not, time period, etc. I live in the hope that things will come together a bit soon. Because I'm having a hard time seeing: "When the description starts out 'Two warring factions in the Department of Elevator Instructors,' how can you go wrong?" I would love to say more, but suppose that having a full-blown discussion of the book at this point, when I haven't even read half and am not to the date, would be wrong. So, I forbear.

I'll probably have to bow out of this first round, because I can't find a copy of the book. Which just means I have more time to re-read "Asher Lev," which I already have a copy of.

libkitty, think of it as an alternate universe. It makes things easier.

Which just means I have more time to re-read "Asher Lev," which I already have a copy of.

I'm nearly halfway through, and I'm really liking it. Good pick, Heather.

P-C, that's kind of where I was going, but I just wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming that at least I am not all alone.

Up with the sun

Connie, are you in Salt Lake City, or am I confused? It does show up in the SLC library online catalogue.

I am in Utah, but I'm in Provo, which is a half-hour drive from Salt Lake--at Western speeds, which means 60 mph is for wimps. I don't know if the Provo library system is hooked in to the Salt Lake system. Yes, it's only laziness that keeps me from checking.
