Reavers ain't men. Or they forgot how to be. Now they're just nothing. They got out to the edge of the galaxy, to that place of nothing, and that's what they became.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Intuitionist sounds like a good jumping off point to me.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I would agree. I know nothing about it and haven't read it! I like it.

Intuitionist gaining momentum ...

(I was able to find all four in my library system)

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Heh. I hate to be snotty, but from one of the only bad reader reviews

(2 stars) This is by far one of the boringest books I have ever read. I was laborious to read. THe reading does not flow well it jumps illogically in various parts. You don't really care for the characters or what happens to them you just want to put this book down. Also, I think it was poorly written.

Price at Amazon is as low as $1 used! Good Choice!

Visilurking

I think we have a winner. Once again, I am really flattered that I have the honor of selecting the first book for the club, even though I really don't think I deserve it any more than any of you (but you can't argue with consensus.) Thank you.

The first selection for Book Club will be: The Intuitionist, by Whitehead, Colson. Discussion begins August 15, 2004.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Woo-hoo!

I guess that info should go in Lilty's post?

And we're off!

Gotta go pay my library fine now. Which is not a complaint. Slacker patron, I am.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The first selection for Book Club will be: The Intuitionist, by Whitehead, Colson. Discussion begins August 15, 2004.

Excellent! I'm off to the bookstore for lunch.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I've skipped like a stone skipping over stuff that is skipped... and I've never been in a book club. So, we're supposed to be done reading it by Aug 15?

(For some reason, I had envisioned book clubs where you read a few chapters and discuss those, and then read a few more chapters and dicsuss at the next meeting.)
