Stop means no. And no means no. So . . . stop.

The Buffista Book Club: the Harry Potter iteration

This thread is a focused discussion group. Please see the first post below for the current topic and upcoming book discussions. While natter will inevitably happen, we encourage you to treat this like a virtual book club and try to keep your posts in that spirit.

By consensus, this thread is reopened specifically to discuss Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It will be closed again once that discussion has run its course.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Ginger, I think it might be a good idea to get that Press post up today, before the weekend. I'll throw something up this afternoon unless you tell me otherwise.

Pepto Bismol's good for that.

Damn, I Press x-posted with Ginger. Since I deleted it there, I'll share it here.

Sudden yet inevitable Book Club Update:

Fearless leader Ginger has appended 4 Holmesian short stories to our selection of Hound of the Baskervilles. All 5 selections are available in beautiful HTML format (thanks Deena!) here: [link]

Discussion dates are as follows:

"A Scandal in Bohemia" and "The Red-Headed League" - Wednesday, September 7, 2005.

The Adventure of the Speckled Band, and The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle - Wednesday, Setember 14, 2005.

First half of Hound of the Baskervilles - Wednesday, September 21, 2005.

Second half of Hound of the Baskervilles - Wednesday, September 28, 2005.

Each discussion period will be cumulative and incorporate the prior selections, so participants are urged to read all selections in tandem. (Shameless plug: This is a new approach we're trying, so if you've never subscribed to Book Club before, or have and didn't like previous discussions, now's a great time to check in.)

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Great minds apparently think alike at exactly the same time. I had some work I had to get done, so I just go around to finishing it.

No, great minds lead Holmes discussions. I'm just gonna try and keep up.

Because books.

Bouncing...

I already finished "A Scandal in Bohemia" and I'm so looking forward to this.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

Scandal in Bohemia is my favorite, I think. I was very young when I first read Holmes, and I clearly remember The Speckled Band freaking me right the heck out. It still does.

Because books.

Are we starting today? Were you going to post some discussion questions, Ginger?

I think today was the start date for "A Scandal in Bohemia" and "The Red-Headed League."

Lilty, if you're around, could you update the first post with the reading and discussion schedule from Press?
