I want to make this guy chicken soup.
Yes, yes you do. I went to school with him, and he's a doll.
I also might have found it on bittorrent, and will watch when I get a moment.
[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Who is he, in relation to the show? Creator, exec producer, writer?
I wrote a post of my thoughts on the pilot. No spoilers.
I've been thinking about the critics' response that Rebecca is in peril in the first three eps, and the accusation of misogyny that goes with that.
Web is running the show, and his team consists of two men, and two women. He doesn't give a shit about the sex the people on his team, I'd say given what I've read, he hasn't time for the silliness, the lack of logic, in making judgments about investigative skills based on plumbing.
Web's methods of investigation rely on the intuitiveness, intelligence, and personal talents of his team. It struck me in seeing these things as a complete piece that Web's cold manipulation is sort of subverts the misogeny of the criminals they investigate.
Ultimately, Web's on the side of the good guys, even if his methods seem suspect and sometimes harmful/evil.
Serial killers, serial rapists, they tend to target women and children, and so that's what we'll see.
But in the pilot, it's ultimately a woman who figures it all out, and though she was bait, she was tricked into being bait by a superior, which is something she couldn't have suspected. A boy wouldn't have, either. The killer chose women. If he had been targeting pretty boys, Paul would have ended up with the gun in his side, as well.
I loved that Web put his arms around her and said, "you're not gonna fall again, are you?"
The line was delivered with concern, as was, "you were never alone." Which to me says he got on that train with her, he had her back.
Paul's preotectiveness, I think, is more driven by her sex. I can't see him being that concerned if Becky had been a Ben.

I'm not sure. I don't know if it's driven by her being a girl or her being a "victim" or both. I think Paul has White Knight Syndrome.
ETA: Part of me thinks that, no matter who replaced Alvarez, Paul would be protective of them. Given what happened to her and that no one saw it coming, he would want to be extra diligent in making sure that didn't happen again.

Exec producer.
I spoke too soon ... I'm bumped down to connecting to peers on the pilot. Hmmph.

I think a lot of it seems driven by what happened to Alvarez in the beginning. He was beating himself up over not knowing things about Alvarez even though he sat across from her for 2(?) years. Things he felt he should have known. It seems natural to me that he would take more of an interest in Rebecca, personally as well as professionally.

Yes. Absolutely. A television show realistically portraying the mysogyny that exists in society, and the charcters maybe even using it to their advantage in going after the bad guys, doesn't equate to promoting it or excusing it, in my book.
I've tried the torrent twice, and it keeps giving me a UDP error.
I'm stalled. 57% downloaded and it just stopped.
I got to 56.7%, and now zip. Well, uploading continues, but nothing of any benefit to my greedy self.
Weird, other people are having problems too. Maybe I got lucky. I'm uploading it to YSI now.
