I also hoped that praising the show to the skies -- which I did, sight unseen, on faith -- would get people interested enough to look into it.
I don't know. When I got the link you sent me this morning, my immediate reaction (after the name misspelling issue) was one of concern.
On one hand, any press is good press, right? On the other, if this is the first time your readers have heard of "The Inside" and they're hearing about it in the same breath as "doomed" and "cancellation," is that really going to make them want to watch?
I guess we'll have to wait and see. I have hope for this one and I never had any real hope for either FF or WF.
Having known my intimate parts for many years, I'm not surprised that they're worthy of recognition here.
Just don't forget to burp the seal to maintain freshness. We don't want you to get stale balls.

Personally? I'm waiting to see when it is aired to determine what hopes I have for it to survive. If it's Friday? I'm beyond skeptical. If it's up against a big ratings show? Same thing.
Part of the concern may be because, when all is said and done, it wasn't a "Go watch 'The Inside'!" column and wasn't really meant to be.
My first thought when I heard about the new show, other than wondering what kind of photos of Mr. Minear FOX execs must have hanging over him, was "might as well go buy www.savetheinside.com now, avoid the rush." My next thought was, "that's a column..."
My third thought was, "mmm, peanut butter," but that's a different story.

Nice idea, except for the strong possibility of a title change confusing matters. Though I guess that also limits the "damage" the article could have done too.
FWIW, Chris, I thought the column was funny.
And welcome.

No title change.

I don't think it's so much photos as it is a development deal.
BTW - I like hearing any reactions to my columns. If you had problems with one I want to know, because I might not have communicated well enough.
But this is nothing, everyone's still friendly. My "Smallville" column got me some interesting mail. I don't remember anyone threatening my bits, but the intent was clearly there...
Interesting mail? In a perfect world, that Smallville column would have gotten you baked goods and offers of marriage.

Good to hear. I wondered, but I guess I wasn't really surprised. I mean, where else would you go with a scary, intelligent show besides FOX? I'm still surprised "Alias" isn't there. It's totally a FOX show.
Even if they can be stupid or prejudicial -- and they can -- this is still the network that's given us more edgy stuff than anybody. There's always got to be the dream that they'll go back to being the studio that supported "The X-Files" despite low ratings and confused viewers. Even as much as they bug me, if I wrote down my favorite 50 shows, a disproportionate amount would be from FOX.
