The Minearverse 3: The Network Is a Harsh Mistress

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Another social casualty...

The new EW (with Clint Eastwood and Hillary Swank on the cover) has The Inside as one of the shows to watch at mid-season. It's a little blurb under "The Best of the Rest" after they profile a couple of other shows in more detail.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Oh! Must buy!

Guy #1: Man, there are so many hipsters around. I hate hipsters! Guy #2: You're at the wrong place. That's like going to Vegas only to say "I hate titties!" --The Warsaw, Williamsburg (OINY)

I could have sworn I saw Lee Pace last night on this godawful sitcom "Still Standing", but no, apparently it was just James Patrick Stewart (the friend from "Andy Richter Controls the Universe").

So, actual Minearverse content of this post? None.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, my god, that's the little British kid from Galactica 1980.

OK, I got something:

I believe he said "line marriages".

Not having read the book since 8th grade, what the hell is line marriages again?

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Who replaced Robbie Rist, the John Denver lookalike who went on to great fame as the original Cousin Oliver.

Heh.

Okay, back to Minearia.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Who replaced Robbie Rist, the John Denver lookalike who went on to great fame as the original Cousin Oliver.

Robbie Rist, incidentally, went on to became a very well respected musician on the LA scene.

Yes, that's why I linked to his website. It has lots of his adult work on there. The second site is just for cheesey fun.

Keeping it in the family, without the incest. Though Heinlen implies it with gramps (who at this point is impotent without the advent of Viagra) getting the first bite at the apple.

Did I mention that I'd like to dig up Heinlen and kick him in whatever balls remain?

If I only had a brain...

A line marriage is a group of people who are all married. The line marriage described in the book alternates girl, boy, girl, boy in new additions to the line, and there are some set of arrangements for sexual housekeeping that I forget. It's yet another polyamory variant. As Allyson says, it's explicitly stated that the senior male gets the first night with the newest female. (Urk.)
