The Minearverse 3: The Network Is a Harsh Mistress

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

The evil is this way?

I'm sad that I missed out on so many valuable years of Buffy discussion when I could have been there.

Me too. I watched the show from the very first episode, but I didn't find the Bronze until Season 3. I missed not being in the community for Season 1 & 2. Imagine being on-line after "Innocence" or "Passion" (Poor dead Jenny). Ty King, who wrote "Passion" was a regular poster. I remember once someone linking to a site that had old posts from that time period. There was Leather Jacket (a old-time Bronzer) on the top of the Bronze with a AK-AK Really Big Gun looking for Ty because he killed Jenny. And Ty posting about the need to kill off characters or something. And then telling Leather Jacket that, in the alternative, killing off Jenny was Marti Noxon's idea. Back when the writers (and even Chris Beck, who wrote the music) would come on after some horrific plot twist and mock/tweak the fans' pain.

The Oldsters would tease us newer Bronzers about the quirks of the first boards. All about how they had to walk 5 miles in the snow (uphill, both ways) to post.

I missed the great the WITTs: Waiting for (Ty) Godot, RTBS' Revivication (after seeing Allyson Hannigan in leather in "The Wish", he posted that he had had a heart attack). But at least I was around for the Canadian H*ttie Invasion, and getting RTBS' soul back after Britney Spears took it (long, long, story).

The evil is this way?

Why do people trust me with this shit?

Because, my dear, you are among the most trustworthy people I know.

HA! That was my first Buffistas post!

And it was funny. Not so much the ickiness of my arrival.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Hee! I started watching during the first round of reruns before S2, and I had a friend who had to have been hooked into something, because before 'Innocence', she told me that she knew what was going to happen, and I (possessing little to no willpower even then) made her tell me. When I asked how she'd known, she said that she'd found out on the Internet. It boggled me then. My very first spoiler. By the end, I was reading scripts with abandon, then beating myself up for it. Wonderfalls is the only thing I've remained pure for, and it's been a bloody fight.

Wipes tear.

Allyson was funny from the first, then.

Hee. I am glad for Tim that the Buffistas (and its predecessors) were around. If he had written for Buffy in the first few seasons I think he would have been a Bronzer. Of course, if Tim had been writing in the earlier years, there would have been a much higher body count.

Tries to imagine. Spontaneously dies.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

This essay is not writing itself. I thought that was a shortcut in Word. Apparently not.

I've had this same hope. Unfortunately, the "help" function seems to only be helpful once the essay has actually been written.

Stupid software.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I'm so into history. Ima find me the very first Buffista posts and poke around.

There's always the FAQ...

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

There's always the FAQ...

And the man in the back said, "Listen to the FAQ, and we'll turn it into a Buffista Blitz."

OK, I have no idea why my brain just did that.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Oh, I know, and I've gone through the FAQ. I just like reading old posts. Those kind of snapshots in time always give me the jollies.
