Sooner or later, you're gonna want it. And the second — the second — that happens, you know I'll be there. I'll slip in, have myself a real good day.

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

not really here, popping in and out as usual.

Planets become uninhabitable when libraries are underfunded. Remember that.

Word. Or words. Lots of them. That deserve funding.

they know which action will give them the most benefit personally and pursue it without qualms.

Well, this describes Jayne decently, but as I recall that nearly got him a oneway pass to an oxygen-free forever float.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

In the 25th century the "Philofly", an updated "Library on Wheels", goes from planet to planet to spread knowledge and hunt down overdue books. Constantly without budget, the crew are forced to conduct illicit deals with the members of small-run publishing cartels.

heh.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

How is keeping River around anything but pity/altruism?

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Well, she's a crack shot. When she has her eyes closed. And there's always the chance she might shoot someone who isn't the enemy, for lack of understanding.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

How is keeping River around anything but pity/altruism?

She did save the crew twice. Once with her guns, once against Early.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Then again, the Early thing was on account of her in the first place.

Then again again, the caper on Ariel wouldn't have happened if Simon hadn't needed to get her into a hospital, and that was profitable.

I think it is just a package deal, and Simon is too useful to lose. And, you know, I think at the end of it Mal, for one, was coming around to liking River.
