There's an element of will that's almost entirely absent in George, whereas Jaye seems to have received her portion in addition to what she was naturally due. I feel a certain sympathy for George, but I wouldn't want to be around that level of wishy-washyness. Jaye, on the other hand, strikes me as fun to hang around with and snark on passers-by.
The Minearverse 3: The Network Is a Harsh Mistress
[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.
Also, one has to remember, George is an 18-yo slacker. She's not curious, she's not invested, she's not, well, anything.
One of the things I love about DLM is that through the course of the season, you can see George start to realize some of these things about herself, and what a waste that was. She starts to open up and let people in, and find some things worth sticking around for, and kind of starts to see being a reaper less as a curse than as an opportunity for a second chance at life.
I love arc-y stuff like that, and I really can't wait to see where season 2 is going to go. I think they planted the seeds for some really interesting possibilities, and it ought to be a lot of fun to watch.
There's a lot more pain, and a bigger struggle with bigger obstacles, and I find that more interesting than Jaye's situation, which seems to be more of an annoyance.
If Jaye ignores the talking animals, they keep her up all night singing. If George doesn't do her job, she may cease to exist. I'd still love to see another season of Wonderfalls, because they're both great, but I like DLM better. Maybe it's the swearing. I think Jaye would swear a lot if she was on Showtime instead of Fox.
So I am sitting here in my daughters hospital room trying to make the time pass way by watching Wonderfalls.
The baby is asleep, its so quiet and all I can think of is why they canceled this show. Then it hits me, its really was just too good. It never had a chance. The characters leap off the screen, most of the storylines are hilarious and Lee Pace makes me giggle (is that a giggle?)on the inside .
Makes me sad. Watching Muffin Buffalo right now.. Then on to Lovesick Ass. I am not one to re-watch shows and movies over again but there is just something different in this case.
It's official. Gail Berman has no soul.
There is no magic in her heart.
I think the Swan ate it or something.
What? Just because she sees what we can't see (as in quality in Tru Calling)? And doesn't have anything nice to say about Wonderfalls?
There is no magic in her heart.
So what you really mean is, she hasn't seen Sir Gandalf's meaty love rod o' YOU SHALL NOT PASS?

See, this just makes me think of Naked Hugh Jackman.
