I always wonder how product placement deals work. Like with The Restaurant. Huge deal with Mitsubishi. The front end of the car, with the Mitsubishi logo, is in the opening credits. So the show's been yanked or possibly moved to one of NBC's other networks to finish its run. Do they have to refund some money to Mitsubishi?

Also, I can't believe how hard it was to spell Mitsubishi four times. I need sleep.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

A good friend of our does props, and meeting with product placement people is part of the preproduction process. A GOOD prop person, designer, and director will not agree to product placement which is out of place.

ETA-- He works on fiction films, where the products need to be part of the landscape and not call attention to themsleves. In reality shows, you can be much more blatant about it.

[insert something funny here]

Throwing in my two thumbs up for Liese's fab new hairstyle - looks great!

I agree with Allyson that 'natural' use of product placement makes total sense in shows and films... and I admit I love it when a certain product adds something to the reception (Sorry - watched "Hellboy" earlier and still grinning from seeing him drinking a can of a certain caffeinated engery drink!)

Major Placements bug me though - and I can't belive that the advertisers are so often blatant about it. I remember with pain when I watched the (US Version) of the Season Three Premiere of 24...

"Brought to you without commercial interruption by the [whatever car it was - probably a Ford Focus!]"

It's an evil double-edged sword - they're acknowledging the fact that commercials are an interruption to the viewers pleasure, and attracting the viewer to the show sans interuption, yet at the same time leaving the viewer in no doubt whatsoever as to the great product responsible. Like cheating or something. Bah.

Edited to add: Look at the time! Must sleep.x

Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

Liese, you look fabulous.

Reminds me I need to get my wild mane trimmed again.

Robin, I left a bag at your place this morning. Did you get it?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Liese! You're glorious. And the haircut's good too.

Liese, I love the new haircut.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

I'm just a little jaded from having to build a company the hard way.

Sydney, after working for idiots (two different start-ups) who just wanted to screw over investors and make a quick buck and went up in spectacular flames of bancruptcy, I have learned that the hard way is the best way. Just sayin.

Liese, Hair looks fabulous!

And I am completely oblivious to product placement. I have never noticed it in Alias. (shrug)

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Just popping in to say Liese's new 'do is fabulous. I love the cut and the color.
