It's not lame, Steph. In one way or another, Joss's fictional universe has touched us all very deeply. Buffy and Angel remain my favorite television shows/works of fiction ever, and given how obsessive I was about some shows beforehand (Friends, etc.) that's not ever likely to change. It also brought me into contact with two wonderful groups of friends through the internet fandoms, and that's something I'll always be grateful for.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Well, just to be clear, I have been a Buffyverse fanatic since Season 3 Buffy

It's not so much about what you like (though it boggles my mind that people might be here that don't care for vampyres and the women that slay them). It's just about what got you here.

Who knows? In three years, should we still exist (knock wood), someone might be here because they're interested in the implementations of preferential voting in web communities.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yes. He will Google "bullshit consensus" on a whim, and voila!

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

We can only dream.

"And the most important thing to remember is that no matter what anybody tells ya, it is never, ever unpatriotic or un-American to question any fucking thing in a democracy." –Steve Earle

Since this feels like a good day to delurk, I just wanted to pop by and say thanks to everyone in Buffistaville for not only being sane (unlike much of the non-Buffista Internet) but also being intelligent, thought-provoking, creative, analytical and so damn funny. You all bring a new level of enjoyment to a show that has so many layers already. (There have been times when a new recap from Matt the Bruins Fan has made my entire day and had me giggling hours later. Thanks so much, Matt! And PM Marcontell's analysis, along with Micole and others I'm sure I'm forgetting, has made me love this show more and actually feel more enlightened overall.)

And because I like the pain (which, I know, is a given with an ME fan) and I'm in a mopey, nostalgic mood, I'd love to hear about everyone's favorite AtS moments.

With a bit of brief reflection, it's hard to narrow it down, but among my favorites, Darla's staking herself for her baby, the replay of the Doyle video at the end of "Hero" and Angel killing Connor in "Home" for HSQ. For the funny, Angel's dancing in "She," "Smile Time" and Gunn "marking" Wes in "Life of the Party." And I think Jasmine was my favorite big bad (although AtS arcs were usually more complex than a single big bad), and Gina was my favorite ME guest star.

There are so many others, but I'm more interested in what you all have to say. I really just wanted to pop in and say thanks for being Buffistas!

Ah- that makes a lot of sense.

What got me here was the premiere of Wonderfalls. I was curious about it since I enjoyed the pilot so much and was already in pre-mourning for the loss of Buffy and Angel and Firefly, looking for a new show to love.

I googled "Wonderfalls", and one of the links that showed up was to the Minearverse. I poked my head in, lurked a little, and by chance, Tim was actively posting at the time. Seeing the interaction between the writer/producer and the other posters fascinated me. I posted a couple of things, got a positive response, got pulled in even more, and next thing I knew, I was sending Allyson money to help Nilly (who I did not know at all at that time) come to the USA.

Basically, I got incredibly lucky, timing-wise. I am very careful about over-committing myself generally and was not looking for another obsession. But...the Buffista love and snarkiness and intelligence and humor was so overwhelming that I stayed up all night and basked in it. As I stumbled into bed at dawn, I had one of those rare moments of clarity in which I knew that my life was somehow going to change profoundly as a result of the relationships I was about to form.

It already has. Seriously, not being melodramtic here. And know what? I feel strongly that I haven't even started to see the extent of the effect it will have in my future life.

ETA: Welcome, Michelvis!

Welcome, Michelvis.

Locking the cellar doors on the lawyers. I'm sure it's going to be an x-post, too, I just wonder with whom.

[Edit: OK, this was just one big x-post. Also, Kristin? Great post]
