Although the single best hour of TV I've ever seen was, without doubt, the Sopranos episode Long Term Parking.
'Sleeper'
Angel 5: Is That It? Am I Done?
[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
IIRC (and I was at UNC, which is in the same conference, in 1985), it was right after the Celtics drafted him. As in, he took the cocaine that night while celebrating the draft.Yes. I think this is the way it happened. So sad. Also? It probably helped keep me from ever trying it, although I was fairly well behaved, anyhow. It just scared the heck out of me, that a young, athletic man could die so easily from using it.
For 2005, there is the part of Angel season five that aired first in 2004--I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around the concept of Enterprise, Andromeda or Stargate SG-1 with a Hugo. If you had a vote, which of those Angel episodes would you nominate?
Mikey, do you need things that aired from September to December, 2003, or from January to May of 2004? I'm just asking because The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco aired November 5, 2003, and I can't make out if y'all are just talking about it out of love, or for the Hugos.

Assuming you want episodes from the calendar year of 2004, I think I would choose either Origin, or Smile Time, although as I review the list, other episodes are screaming, "Pick me! Pick me!"
You're Welcome stands out as the best of S5, although it depends on knowing the backstory.
This was close to what I was going to say, except I was going to phrase it as "Firefly didn't stop calling - somebody put a bullet in his head".
Well, I don't like to think of Firefly as completely dead yet, which the bullet in the head metaphor suggests. But it's like that.
Battlestar Galactica - the mini-series?
They're broadcasting a full series of around-an-hour-long episodes in the UK. (Surely they're in the US soon/now/before?) They'd be safely in the length requirement. And they're very good-- I didn't catch the mini-series, but I'm picking up the BSG love quite quickly.
(Surely they're in the US soon/now/before?)
No, not for a couple weeks.
It is pretty good, but I'm not liking what they're doing with Baltar in the last few eps.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about Baltar anyway, but the thing in the last episode ("The Hand of God") where he pointed randomly and was right... that didn't fit quite as well as it might have done. A little too easy.
I'm strangely happy to be on the other side of the Atlantic Pause for once, though.
which all lost to a DVD Easter egg
It must have been a pretty amazing Easter egg. ... right? What was it? (And why do I think it has to be something LotR-sy?)
"The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco"--the single greatest hour of television ever produced.
I wonder if that depends on one already knowing something about Mexican wrestling. I didn't, and found it thoroughly meh.
I think that was the first week I switched to The O.C. during a new episode of Angel.
For calendar year 2004, I'd probably nominate "Smile Time." "You're Welcome" and (despite my Issues with it) "Origin" are probably better and more representative within the novel that is Angel, but you can't go wrong with puppets.
My favorite overall hour in the ME-verse, at least as of this morning, is probably "The Wish."
I'd pick "Prophecy Girl" as best hour of TV ever
OMG, the scene in you library -- "Read your books! Tell me my fortune! I'm 16 years old. I don't want to die." *sniff*
But, I Tivoed I Will Remember You, and I think that it may have been my favorite Angel ep ever. Not sure if it's my favorite ME verse.
Hmm, just realized -- you know what's wrong? Everytime I start to type "____" was the best/favorite episode, i change my mind before I finish typing.
Am Chau -- I liked Baltar when he was conflicted. I like the mystery, and the confusion. But the point when he didn't reveal that Boomer was a Cylon, he became cowardly and almost cartoonish.
ita, yes, that wasn't a good way to go with the character. I can sort of see why they couldn't have Boomer be sure she was a Cylon at that point; but Baltar's motives for not revealing the test result to anyone else need more clarification. At the very least, some more conflict over it. I'm not sure where Baltar can go, or where they think he's going, anyway-- except 'crazy'. I have a sneaking feeling that Baltar's backstory may be a thing I missed out on by missing the miniseries, though I haven't yet done the research that would prove that, partly because I want to stay unspoiled-- they have to repeat it fairly soon, and I hope to catch up then.
