I'd object not so much because of the wasted prep, but because of the presumption of a need to protect.

Great article, Allyson. Sorry that the press guy is an asshat. You should write the Kerry campaign and tell them that it is not a good idea for the press face of their candidate to act as if the primary motivation for a young woman at a campaign event is to get laid. Or you could have said "Thanks, I don't need a dick, you're right here."
I wonder if it was all a security thing, with the pen being mightier than the sword, and all that. Perhaps if there was a pencil.
